Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts
Balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that pairs perfectly with many meals.
Ingredients
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional, for extra flavor)
Red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
Chopped fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary (optional, for garnish)
Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F .
Prepare Brussels sprouts: Trim the ends off the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove any outer leaves that are discolored or wilted.
Season: Place the Brussels sprouts in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
Roast: Spread the Brussels sprouts out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Roast in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized, stirring halfway through.
Make the glaze: While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, prepare the balsamic glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar with honey or maple syrup (if using) and minced garlic (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened slightly.
Glaze the Brussels sprouts: Once the Brussels sprouts are done roasting, transfer them to a serving dish. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the roasted Brussels sprouts, tossing gently to coat.
