Hummus
WAY better than store bought! Serve with veggies and pita bread or naan.
Ingredients
1½ cups (1 can) cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed. Reserve liquid for thinning.
⅓ cup smooth tahini
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, more to taste
1-2 garlic cloves
½ teaspoon sea salt
paprika, red pepper flakes, or parsley, for garnish
warm pita bread and/or veggies, for serving
Directions
In a high-speed blender or food processor, place the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt. Blend until very smooth, adding water or canning liquid as needed to blend, and/or to reach your desired consistency.
Transfer to a serving plate, top with desired garnishes and serve with warm pita/naan and veggies, as desired.
Tips
This is just a basic hummus recipe. While delicious on its own, feel free to experiment with other ingredients and flavors you love, like roasted red pepper, jalapeno peppers, olives, herbs, etc. to make it your own.
